This weekend was the annual Chinese New Year parade in Chinatown, and it was a fantastic time. Although it was a bit cloudy through most of it, the weather was unseasonably warm (enough to shoot without gloves on). The warm weather also allowed the parade participants to be more at ease in their New Year's costumes.
The participants included the two young boys in the middle of this circle of photographers, who were probably quite confused about what was happening. I got this shot with a new addition to my camera bag - the Canon 10-22mm f3.5-4.5 EF-S USM Ultra-Wide. This lens has been incredible in allowing me to nail shots where I wouldn't have a chance without it. And though there's clearly a great deal of distortion in the frame at 10mm, I actually kind of like it. It seems to me that it just adds an overall dynamic quality to the image.
